IUCN ELP REINVIGORATES MOU WITH LAW FOR A GREEN PLANET

IUCN Environmental Law Programme and Law for a Green Planet Institute (Brazil) have used the occasion of the WSSD in Johannesburg to review and reinvigorate their memorandum of understanding of June 1999. Both organizations have now agreed to collaborate in the implementation of the outcomes of the WSSD in South America and to work closely in relation to the Law for a Green Planet Institute 7th International Environmental Law Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil from June 2-5 2003, 'Water and the Web of Life'. The revised MoU also formally recognizes Law for a Green Planet Institute as an IUCN ELP 'Centre of Excellence'. Professor Antonio Benjamin (Brazil), Dr Jorge Caillaux, CEL Regional Vice Chair for South America and John Scanlon, Head ELP each signed the revised MoU. Antonio Benjamin and John Scanlon joined in saying that the relationship between the two organizations had never been stronger.
